One of the earliest Christmas presents I remember getting was a kit Lego Fire Station with fire engines. I was pretty young, probably about 5 or 6 years old so it required a lot of adult help with getting it put together. It looked awesome.
I remember visiting a school friend’s house when I was about 8 or 9 and on their dining room table was a Lego pirate ship, quite possibly the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.
And then nothing. I forgot about Lego for 20 years whilst I was busy growing up and being an adult. Then just after Christmas, I bought myself a Lego City petrol tanker and Formula One car kit. I was hooked again! Putting a Lego kit together has become quite addictive.
Since then I’ve bought a few different kits and am getting through the Lego Movie mini-figures too. The only downside is that it’s getting quite expensive.
I’m not sure what’s sparked this new Lego phase – it’s not like I have kids now or anything, but if I do, they’re getting Lego for Christmas.
I often post pictures of my Lego purchases on Instagram so follow me there if you want to see more.
